[Lemonade in Investor Place] Lemonade Stock Should Be Your Main Squeeze This Summer

Insurance companies have been around for as long as we can remember, but the lack of innovation has made this industry ripe for disruption. Enter Lemonade (NYSE:LMND), the “insurtech” startup that hopes to make insurance cool again. Fresh off its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in July, Lemonade stock rallied 138% and pushed the company’s market valuation to $ 3 billion.

[Tala in Investor Place] Tala Gives Tech Firms a Good Name, Finally!

A Santa Monica, California-based company, technology firm Tala specializes in microloans. According to CNBC.com, these are loans that range from $ 10 to $ 500, made to people in emerging nations. Aside from the small denominations, which I’ll address in greater detail below, previous attempts to reach such borrowers were stymied by their lack of credit profiles.

Peer Support and Self Management Saturday’s – A Safe Place to Vent, Seek Emotional Support, Share Self Management Techniques and Experiences, or Just Rant

Welcome to this week’s Peer Support and Self Management Thread.

This is a Safe Place to Vent, Seek Emotional Support, Share Self Management Techniques and Experiences, or Just Rant.

The goal for this thread is to help one another manage mental and physical health so we can more easily find success.

We all struggle sometimes and it is important to recognize that the struggle is part of the journey. The important thing is to learn how to overcome that adversity to grow and succeed.

Be tactful and classy in how you vent your feelings and share your frustrations. Act in a mature manner.

Ask questions, share experiences, and be there for one another. Practice empathy in giving advice and remember that what worked for you isn’t guaranteed to work for others. Make suggestions, not demands of others.

#Because this is meant to be a safe place to support emotional and physical health there is a zero tolerance policy in effect. Be KIND. Be sure to report any conduct that is in violation of that key tenet.

You can also find more support using instant chat on the /r/startups discord.

Startups – Rapid Growth and Innovation is in Our Very Nature!

Where’s the best place to form a company?

I have a marketing agency with 2 other cofounders and we are all spread across the globe (USA, Canada, Taiwan) so I suppose we can form it wherever has the best tax benefits?

Does anyone have any experience forming a company someplace like the British Virgin Islands? Is it easy to do? How does it affect my taxes back home in the US?

Hi. I’m about to implement Stripe on my start-up project, which sells digital downloads. But as it’s my own self built platform, I’m worried I’m not following consumer laws. Is there a good place I can learn these before I start charging folk.

Like, if I charge members of the public, surely I need some refund policy, a data protection guarantee? Do I need to save all my sales for tax purposes? Do I need insurance first incase something happens.

Adding a charge feature just seems way too easy. I don't want to get a letter from the Tax office or a fine from some consumer rights group. Where can I learn about these? To avoid any missteps. Thanks
