Best Apps for managing/running a remote team with 5-10 people – Project Management (Trello etc) recommendations, as well as Slack/Zoom vs Microsoft Office 365 (comes with Teams and Conference ability plus storage)

Hi all

I manage a small team of around 5-10 people. The majority of these people are volunteers that work internationally (I'm based in the UK).

I don't have a large budget, and currently use a mix of WhatsApp group chats (obviously free), free storage with Dropbox, some Trello boards etc. I now want a more professional setup and have been looking at the various options.

I like Microsoft Office 365's Standard business plan, as for £9 per month per user, it has everything I need (such as an email account for each of my employees, Microsoft Teams for chat as well as video calls, storage, as well as Office 365 apps like Word/Excel etc). However, I've also looked into the other options available, like Slack (from my understanding, I'd be ok to just use the free model, as only using it for chat), signing up to one Zoom account (as the others can still use that same zoom room without logging in to my account if they want multi-person chats?), however storage options look quite expensive (Dropbox want £12 per user for 5TB of storage with a minimum of 5 people. I don't need that much space, and Office 365 already works out cheaper).

My questions are therefore, is Microsoft Teams easy to use compared to slack? I've used Slack and it's pain-free. What is everyone's opinions for Teams for video calls, general team-working etc? And is the OneDrive storage seamless (as in if I upload a file to OneDrive, can my team work on it like a GoogleDoc type document in real time?)

Lastly, would be keen to hear any other recommendations people have about how they work with their remote teams, and what sort of Apps they're using etc.

Thanks1
