tldr: I have recently been hired straight out of college to a solar panel company. We are surprisingly growing in business during these times (people want solar energy in this hot state!) I am wondering how I can become an important member of the organization.
Business: We are a small business that runs like a startup culture with less than 15 employees. We connect customers to the right fit of solar panels, inverters and batteries. We do not make the solar panels, inverters or batteries. We are rapidly growing in business and employees. Sales have been flying! Though, I acknowledge the door to door sales are the primary focus, not so much digital marketing. We also don’t have the entire budget to automate all of the coordinating process’ (customer to company to installation to government protocols).
Role: I have the role of project coordinator. I coordinate the entire process from the a) sale to b) legal work (government to customer relations) to c) the designers to d) he engineers/installers to e) customer satisfaction are met. I’d like to think of myself as a form of junior project manager. Though, I’m not working on scrum like a software project manager (which would be awesome!)
Previous experience: I have cofounded a small startup venture of financial technology, using scrum work to organize my team of software developers. Our goal was to automate financial transactions via a software point-of-sale system. I am great with managing scrum work, financial work (accounting and financial investments), interpersonal communication (sales and management) and have a touch of digital marketing experience.
Question: How can I expand myself in this small business/startup? I aim to grow into a well rounded businessman that is able to handle the CEO role of other sustainable ventures. I want to be valuable to this company and eventually team up with them in my own software/sustainable business!! I’m sure they haven’t found absolute value in my character yet as I’ve not completely discussed expansion or taking on other roles.
Thank you for your time!
