Where to find a co-founder who is a developer?

I have a project I'm working on but I have a limited knowledge in programming. My friend told me that my chance of getting it done is only 1% because I don't have at least a developer with me. I'm starting to believe that he was right and I am very frustrated.

The business idea is proved that it works well in the USA so I want to do it in my country. Yet the developers I hired from Pakistan didn't do the job as well as I expected and I realized that I need a real programmer. I've sent many messages to many people from reddit to youtube asking them to join but no one is interested in it, or they have other plans, or the program languages are not their expertise.

Thus I'd like to ask you guys if there are places that I could look into and maybe I could find the one. I really appreciate your input!

“Hotels are not just for tourists”: Interview with BYHOURS’ co-founder and CEO Guillermo Gaspart

A lot has changed since we last interviewed Guillermo Gaspart, CEO & co-founder of BYHOURS. The online platform that allows you to book microstays in more than 3,500 hotels on the 5 continents in packs of 3, 6 and 12 hours is on the move. They started this year with €8 million in funding poised for further…

Looking for a full-stack developer to be my co-founder.

I have a Webapp that is 80% finished and I'm looking for a full-stack developer in the USA or Europe to become my co-founder. (I'm a resident in the USA, Germany and Malaysia btw.) She/he should be good at React Native, Rails, Node.js or MongoDB because I know nothing about them as well as nothing about developing and managing an app. My mistake. Thus I hired a team in Pakistan to do it for me.

The business idea is already proved to be a good one and it works great in the USA. Therefore I wanted to use this idea in Malaysia where I know the market very well and I have many connections there.

If Grab won over Uber, then I guess there's a chance. Of course it is risky but I can't go back now. So if you know where I may find such developer please help me. I do need her/him. I really appreciate it!

Trust is important when looking for a co-founder but trusting new people takes time. How do you handle this dilemma?

How common is it to recruit a brand new co-founder, compared to looking for someone in your network that you already know?

Being able to trust your co-founder is insanely important but in it's nature, it's quite impossible to fully trust a brand new person you have never met before.

What is the best general approach here? Vesting schedule with 0 equity during a first "trial" year?

The hunt for a technical cofounder

Over the last 3 months, I have searched high and low for a technical cofounder and while I found a few, their demands were insane (51% equity) or they wanted a salary ($ 100k) that I can simply not fork over. At this stage in the game, I have:

  1. Validated my idea
  2. A wireframe
  3. A functional wireframe (Figma)
  4. Hundreds of users preregistered (it is a marketplace; so both prospective consumers and workers)

At this point, I am considering just biting the bullet and paying a full-stack dev to create the MVP. However, this does not solve my problem of needing a CTO. If my idea takes off, a VC will fix that issue but I prefer to get someone ahead of time as what happens when there are technical errors with the app upon rolling out? I want to mitigate issues before they come to fruition.

What are you doing/have you done in the past to address these concerns?

Non-tech founders without a tech co-founder or CTO, how did you do it?

Looking to hear stories from non-tech founders who have had success launching and growing a start-up from scratch without a tech founder and instead hiring developers to do all the development work. I read a lot of stories on here from people who say having a CTO co-founder is key to any viable start-up and also see a lot of posts from people looking for tech co-founders. However, I would love to hear from non-tech founders who have been able to grow their startup successfully without a tech founder by hiring contractors instead and how they navigated this huddle.

Startups – Rapid Growth and Innovation is in Our Very Nature!

I’m a technical founder of a SaaS AI for healthcare product, near MVP, but am seeking a cofounder with UI experience… where should I be looking? Are there communities I’m overlooking?

I've reached out on local tech channels on slack. I looked on social media. I can find people here and there, but to find the best match as a cofounder, it seems like there must be a higher traffic method of connecting with people. Are there particular places to find cofounders with particular skill sets? I would love to be directed to those resources.
