I'll be launching a tech startup in the near future and was wondering if there is any stats out there with respect to founder ownership percentage at the time of going public. What is a reasonable number to look for? For example, is 20-25% stake normal? If you were an investor, would you want the founder to have this much stake to encourage them to be motivated to run the company for many years? Or are investors always looking to grab as much stake as they can?
